Accommodation: $0

We house swapped north of Perth and south and loved both of our homes. So so fortunate that we got to meet both of the owners and had a blast with them. Australia is already on it's way to being our favourite.

Transportation: $637 We had a month long car rental to get around W.A. Their public transportation is actually pretty good to the suburbs, but if you are looking to explore I would highly recomend a car. They are pretty affordable ($385 for the month) but you will quickly add up the costs in gas - Australia is BIG!

Flights: $478

Our first of many flights with JetStar and I have to be honest, they were not my favourite. They really give you a hard time and try to charge you for everything! Also, I found all of their workers to be really short and irritable with everyone. It seemed to be a consistant trend with them, perhaps they dont have they greatest work environment?

Groceries: $669 (not included in budget) Again, groceries arent cheap here! W

Dining Out: $43

We learned real fast that W.A is EXPENSIVE. We picked up coffee at the local Maccas (Mcdonalds for you North Americans 😝) and hot chocolate for the kids and it cost us $27!! I am not even joking. So long story short, we didn't eat out!

Rottnest Island: $187

You can't come to WA without visiting Rottnest Island to see the adorable Quokkas. We only went for the day and paid for the Hop on Hop off bus pass for the family. Its a great way to get around the island on your schedule. The island doesnt allow cars, and if you are short on time, this is the way to go!

Lancelin Sand Dunes: $20

We grabbed two boards outside the dunes for the hour and had a blast!! We took turns and trust me, after you run up those dunes a few times you will be happy that you only booked an hour. Quad workout!

National Parks pass: $80

We knew we were going to be visiting quite a bit of parks and hiking, so we got the year pass for our stay. We were allowed to visit any park for free with this pass and worth every penny.

Total: $1445

Have you been to W.A? What did you get up to?
