Flights: $485 WowAir had just opened their Detroit terminal and was offering one way flights to Dublin for $99 each. How can you go wrong?! Also, absolutely no complaints with WowAir, they were amazing to fly with!

Accommodation: $85 Thanks to house swapping we scored the cutest 4 bedroom semi just outside of Shannon for free.

We did have a 6am flight though, so we opted to stay at a hotel ($85) to make our lives a little easier.

Car Rental + Gas: $360 Car rentals ($280) can be pretty cheap in Ireland, but they do hit you with a mandatory insurance (ugh) which turns your cheap rental into a not so cheap one. Gas was also expensive ($125) since we did do quite a bit of driving.

Groceries (not included in overall budget) : $310 I would say our grocery shopping didn’t change much from home. We do buy a lot of fresh produce and limit our meat which can help with the overall price.

Excursions: $0 We had hoped to visit the Blasket Islands to see the seals and whales, but sadly the weather just didn’t cooperate. All week the ferry was unable to go, which was a total bummer!

Dining Out: $20 We did go out for Bryan’s birthday, but thanks to a birthday present from his Mom and Dad that was on them (thanks Mom and Dad ) But we did stop for a pint to listen to some live music in our little town one evening.

Misc: $0

Total for 2 weeks in Ireland: $950

Under budget! Woohoo! More money in the food budget for Italy/Spain
