Accommodation: $0

Thanks to house swapping, we had a huge luxurious house outside of Ubud for free. We seriously hit the jackpot and loved being in a small town with all the locals away from the touristy spots.

Transportation: $ 567 This is the most we have ever spent on transportation. We rented a car for one week and had a driver for the few days around that. Gas was pretty affordable, but the driver ended up costing quite a bit!

Flights: $411

We flew with Scoot from Singapore non stop and had a great flight. We were all deathly tired from our trip to Singapore and took advantage of the opportunity to sleep.

Groceries: $73 (not included in budget) This is probably the cheapest budget for food yet! Bali is actually kind of pricey when it comes to eating at home, so we took full advantage of the fact that it was cheaper to eat OUT than in. Done and Done.

Ocean front bugalow: $24

When we visited Amed beach we spontaneously spent the night as opposed to driving home since we were having so much fun. We grabbed a beautiful little bungalow off the coral reef with an incredible cooked to order breakfast for $24. Seriously. This was about the time that we started talking seriously about moving to Bali.

Dining Out: $320

We ate out ALOT here in Bali. It's cheap, the food is delicious and you are supporting the most beautiful families. Each and every one of them cook for you out of their own kitchen, it's incredible.

Excursions: $79

Most places in Bali require a small "donation" or fee to enter now, but thankfully kids are often free. The money goes directly the the owner of the spot, which is typically a Balinese family, so this money went to good use.

Nusa Penida: $200

We picked up a one day tour to Nusa Penida including all transportation and guide. What an experience that was! We hopped on the fast boat (which is a lot more than the slow boat) since we only had the one day and spent most of the day driving from spot to spot. I would highyl recomend taking it slow, saving the money and going at your pace. Still an amazing day!

Total: $1,601

Hmmmm, I foresee a trend of going over budget. Yikes!

Have you been to Bali? What did you get up to?
