Accommodation: $0

We had a beautiful modern home lined up just south of Brussels. We were in the country with nothing but rolling fields, farm animals and fresh air. It was such a welcome change from the fast paced city life and I am telling you; being in the same bed for longer than 2 weeks was a major bonus!

Transportation: $ 175 We had a car exchange during our Belgium swap but we drove quite a bit! Thankfully our car was good on gas, otherwise it could have been a lot higher. We typically rent cars which can add up, and having our car for free was a huge bonus. BUT, driving someone's car is always hard to get used to - but I guess if you do it enough its like living in someone else's car right?!

Groceries: $690 (not included in budget) As usual, we eat almost every single meal at home or pack picnics, so we had quite a bit of food to account for.

Not included, TWO (yes you read that right) two speeding tickets! One in Holland as well as one in Luxembourg. Both tickets were for 10 km over the speed limit (as in we were driving 90 km/h in an 80 km zone) and we were fined $200 EACH! So if you are driving in these countries, these people are serious about their speed limits. Do not even go one mile over.

And in case you were wondering, we were nabbed by speed cameras and weren't even notified of these infractions till we were in Bali, a good month later. Also, Bryan is notoriously a slow driver, so those tickets stung big time.

Bruge Canal Cruise: $20

Bruge is a really cool city built around a ton of canals, and its well worth the cruise price to check it out out (kids free!)

Dining Out: $90 Every friday we went to the Atomium for the summer festivities and fireworks. We also took advantage of this opportunity to blow $20 each time on street food at their many vendors. We also had to try their waffles, mussels and frites and CHOCOLATE. Thankfully, not an expensive place to treat yo' self!

Total: $285
